Abstract

ABSTRACT The expertise on metal work influent the culture of the human. It is proofed by the naming of the age by using the name oft/ic metal such as iron age and bronze age. The identification of the metal for the metal arts work such as sculpture, holy object, in usic ins trument of gambelan, decoration for desk or window or more even for the souvenir is not easy to be identified since should utilize technique and equipment which is time and cost consuming. It is the purpose of this work to introduce metallography technique that general use in modern manufacture industry of metal to be able to he utilize by the metal art maker in Indonesia. With this technique, the identification of bronze and brass can be real ized with moderate cost and reliable time so that the metal artist can produce their product with using guaranteed material.
