Abstract

The initial idea of this research is inspired by the vision of ISI Denpasar for being the centre of excellence. In order to be the centre of excellence and producing great scholars, the ability of speaking English plays an important role. One of the ways of improving the ability of speaking English of both students and lecturers of ISI Denpasar is by making an innovation in teacing Balinese and Javanese dances by using Indonesian and English for the students which is presented in a bilingual book (Indonesian-English). Besides being a means of enhancing the ability of speaking English, the result of this research can also support the spread of Balinese and Javanese cultures internationally. The teaching of dance for the international students of ISI Denpasar by using both English and Indonesian is not completed with an Indonesian-English book (bilingual) as the reference for the students and the lecturers. The method adopted in this research is the translation research methods combined with dance research method, which is started with collecting information about the existence of Balinese and Javanese dances, then translated into English. The translation results are tested in teaching dance to students of dance department at ISI Denpasar.
