ABSTRAK Penciptaan garapan ini bertujuan untuk menuangkan daya kreativitas, serta potensi berkesenian melalui penggarapan komposisi karawitan, menunjukkan jati diri penata sebagai calon komposer dalam berkarya agar bisa menjadi lebih berkembang dan berguna untuk semua orang dalam berkesenian, dan mencoba membuka cara pandang tentang pemahaman dan apresiasi terhadap sebuah karya komposisi karawitan melalui fenomena alam. Dalam proses penggarapan, karya ini menggunakan tiga tahapan yaitu Eksploration (Penjajagan), Improvisasion (Percobaan), Forming (Pembentukan) untuk mewujudkan ide/gagasan kedalam sebuah karya seni karawitan. Karya komposisi karawitan ini merupakan karya yang berpijak pada fenomena alam yang terjadi di laut. Karya ini terilhami dari keindahan dan kekuatan dari fenomena yang terjadi di laut disebut dengan sebutan Pasang Maling oleh para nelayan di desa adat Tanjung Benoa. Karya komposisi karawitan ini merupakan sebuah karya yang mentransformasikan sebuah cerita dari seorang nelayan di desa adat Tanjung Benoa yaitu I Made Lilir yang menceritakan tentang terjadinya fenomena alam dilaut desa adat Tanjung Benoa. Karya komposisi karawitan Pasang Maling diwujudkan dalam bentuk tabuh kreasi yang masih menggunakan pola-pola tradisi tabuh kreasi yang sudah ada kemudian dikembangkan baik dari ornamentasinya, mengolah unsur musikalnya sehingga dapat menghasilkan sebuah karya komposisi karawitan tabuh kreasi yang memiliki nuansa yang sesuai dengan ide garapan. Komposisi karawitan ini terdiri dari empat bagian yang dimasing-masing bagian memiliki nuansa yang berbeda namun saling berkaitan. Garapan komposisi karawitan ini menggunakan gamelan Gong Kebyar sebagai media ungkap dan garapan ini disajikan di panggung Natya Mandala Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Denpasar secara konsert/mandiri didukung oleh 35 orang penabuh dengan durasi waktu 12 menit. Kata kunci : tabuh kreasi, pasang maling, karawitan ABSTRACT The creating of this work has purpose to express creativity and potential in doing art through the work of karawitan composition to create high quality art work, showing self identity of the artist as composer candidate in doing art work in order to be able to be more develop and useful for everyone in doing art, and try to open the point of view about understanding and appreciation to a karawitan composition work through a nature phenomenon especially that occur in Tanjung Benoa Customary Village. In the process of making, this work uses three stages they are the Exploration, Improvisation, and Forming to create an idea/concept into a karawitan art work. In the making of this work it can be said that in the process of creating art work especially in the stage of forming is a stage that needs lots of energy, thought, and time because in the finishing process there are lots of factor occur so it can hamper the process of art work forming. This karawitan composition work is a work that stands on the nature phenomenon that occur in sea so it is made to be the concept’s basic stand for karawitan composition making of tabuh kreasi Pasang Maling. The karawitan composition of tabuh kreasi Pasang Maling is a work that is inspired from the beauty and the mighty of the phenomenon occur in sea which is called Pasang Maling by the fishermen in Tanjung Benoa customary village. This karawitan composition work is a work that transforms a story from a fisherman in Tanjung Benoa customary village called I Made Lilir who told the story about the nature phenomenon occur in the sea of Tanjung Benoa customary village. The karawitan composition work of Pasang Maling is bring into reality in the form of tabuh kreasi which is still using the available tabuh kreasi tradition patterns which is later to be developed whether in the ornament, working on the musical elements so it will produce a tabuh kreasi karawitan composition work which has nuance according to the idea of making. This karawitan composition work consists of four parts where each of part has different nuance but still be related to each other. This karawitan composition work uses gamelan Gong Kebyar as the expression media and this work is presented on the stage of Natya Mandala of Art Institute of Indonesia (ISI) Denpasar in concert/autonomous supported by 35 penabuh with duration of 12 minutes.
