Pendidikan karakter yang digalakkan oleh Kemendikbud patut didukung karena akan berdampak positif dalam melahirkan sumber daya manusia yang handal yaitu memiliki intelektualitas yang seimbang dengan moralitasnya. Oleh karena itu, kajian mengenai pendidikan karakter menjadi penting untuk dilakukan. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap adanya nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter pada wacana pertunjukan wayang kulit Bali, khususnya pertunjukan wayang kulit Joblar yang mementaskan lakon Tualen Caru. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, dapatlah dideskripsikan nilai pendidikan karakter yang tersirat di dalamnya, meliputi (1) karakter kepedulian, (2) kereligiusan, (3) toleransi atau setia kawan, (4) kesantunan, (5) patriotik, (6) menghargai budaya sendiri, (7) sopan santun dan hidup bersih, (8) niat membina, (9) cinta ilmu, (10) menghargai karya dan prestasi orang lain, dan (11) rela berkorban.

The Basic Value of Character Education in the Joblar Leather
Puppet Shadow Play Whith the Theme "Tualen Caru"
Abstract
The character education encouraged by the Ministry of National Education Schould be supported as it will positively contribute to the creation of reliable human resources, whose intellectuality and morality are balanced. Therefore, it is essential to conduct a study investigating the character education. This article is intended to reveal the values of the character building in the discourse of the leather puppet shadow play performed in Bali in general, and the Joblar leather puppet shadow play performing the theme Tualen Caru. Based on the result of analysis, the values of the character education which are implied in it can be described as follows (1) the character of being aware of; (2) religiousness; (3) tolerance or solidarity; (4) politeness; (5) patriotism; (6) appreciating self culture; (7) being ethic and living a clean life; (8) fostering desire; (9) loving sciences; (10) appreciating others' work an achaevement; and (11) being willing to sacrifies.
