Abstract
This study introduces changes in the traditional vocal genre of Sekar Rare, which is the playing song of Balinese children. My research suggests the development in the format of its performance and function. Recently, Sekar Rare is no more a mere accompaniment piece of the play, but the play has been upgraded as a playing performance, the so called Popular Music of the Balinese Kids. Many of them have been enclosed in other Balinese performance arts.
