Abstract

The existence of the Balinese song in the era of the 90s aims to preserve the Balinese art and culture. Balinese song is believed to be one of the educative media. Balinese song grammar is well known as unggah-ungguhing base Bali. But in globalization era has eroded the identity of the Balinese song, toward renewal and follow the demands of the market by inserting foreign language in the lyrics of Balinese song. Insertion English in the lyrics of songs consistency has found on the Kis Band album who released 3 albums. Code mixing in the lyrics of the song in the language of science known as code mixing. English language converted into economic value when entered in a Balinese songs. in its analysis, the researcher uses qualitative research with data collection techniques preferably through in dept interviews with key informants as a songwriter, as well as interviews with the producers and the audience as supporters informant. According to the research, found that the type of code mixing of element uptake seen in the lyrics of the Kis Band songs is categorized in hybrid code mixing. The code mixing absorb code native language (the local language) and also foreign languages. Code mixing Kis Band song is absorbing Balinese, Indonesian, and English. Based on the level of linguistic performed, mixed forms of English code on the song Kis Band consists of the insertion of words, phrases, and clauses. Code Mixing English of Kis Band lyrics aims to establish an identity, a strategy to be able to expand to national and international level as well as the commodification happen because of the demands of the market.
