Abstract

The archipelago dance is an encyclopedia of ethnic archipelago that holds all things that are important considered by the community of supporters. Archipelago dance full of philosophical messages, both aspects of spiritual, moral, and social development of their communities. Operating nationwide dissemination of dance for the children of Indonesia through the creation and staging of collaboration will be able to increase their appreciation of art and culture of the archipelago. Therefore, as children of the nation, students already should know the art treasures of the tradition of nation. Thus, the appreciation of dance arts of the archipelago is expected to help learners know his true identity and also understanding the identity of the nation’s plurality. In turn, they will be able to respect difference and diversity, and be wise to accept the reality of cultural plurality of Indonesian society. Education is the most appropriate vehicle to build awareness of multiculturalism meant. Because, in the ideal level, education should be able to act as a ”spokesman” for the creation of fundamentalist multicultural life that is free of state cooptation. It may take place if there is a paradigm shift in education, which starts from the uniform to a single identity, then the direction of recognition and appreciation of diversity of identity within the framework of harmonization creation of life. Education is not just as a center of learning and teaching in the sense of ”intellectual development” (intellectual development), but must also be a center of cultural appreciation and development, both local culture and national culture, and even global culture.
