Abstract

There is a dance drama in Yogyakarta that comes from the story of Damarwulan and Serat Damarwulan. Serat Damarwulan is considered as a mirror of the life of the community with its cultural characteristics at the time the manuscript was written. So is Langendriya that occurred in the same era, during the reign of Hamengku Buwana VII, which portrays the life of the society at that time. As a genuine story from Java, the story in Serat Damarwulan with its characters describes the features of the Javanese society with its specific idealism. The characteristics and behavior of its characters, the protagonist and the antagonist refers to the belief of the Javanese people about the ideal values of life. Langendriya and Serat Damarwulan: An Intertextual Approach Study is a study to find the interrelation connection between Langendriya and Serat Damarwulan. The value in Serat Damarwulan is to give a good example about the loyalty of a woman to her husband, portrayed by the character of Dewi Anjasmara. So is the example of a man shown through the character of Damarwulan. Keywords: Langendriya,Damarwulan and Javanese society.
