Abstract
This esthetics proces is intended to investigate the innovative wooden statues made by I Ketut Muja from Banjar Mukti, Singapadu Village, Gianyar Regency. He used to be a traditional carver. With his talent and forming ability, finally he was able to produce modern statues, and get bad response from people around his village. He is an elementary school graduate and has developed his statue-making-talent with the themes taken from the epics of Ramayana, mythology, and daily life which are materialized into decorative-natural and expressive statues.Creativity process in forming the statues of Muja originally initiated from looking for material, finding inspirations, process of working, distribution, and consumption. Innovation in the process of creativity which combine the traditional style with modern style in Muja’s works will produce innovative variant form of statues. This process concerned with the efforts in searching new value of esthetics and the process of refreshness.The meaning and significance of esthetics wooden statues of Muja is mainly directed to the esthetics meaning and the preservation of cultural studies values. His routineness and glowing spirit of working are apparently not in vain, in which affect the development of creativity, increasing appreciation, and the real earnings will improve the standard of living.
