Abstract

Abstract The parade of along almost every road in Indonesia for the sake of Pemilu (the legislative general election) 2009 is interesting in terms of political aesthetics. Among 44 political parties, there are three which use garuda (mythical bird, mounted by god vishnu): Partai Keadilan dan Persatuan Indonesia (PKPI), Partai Patriot, and Partai Gerakan Indonesia Raya (Partai Gerindra). The problem is the diffrence in whice such a bird is resoresented in balihos in the three political parties especially when seen through the discourses of cultural studies relating to ideology, power, and culture. This cannot be avoided by the political interest of the legislative candidates (politicians) keywords: Pemilu 2009, baliho, legislative candidate, pilotical parties, garuda.
