Abstract

ABSTRAK PELESTARIAN DONGENG BALI MELALUI MEDIA KOMUNIKASI VISUAL Dongeng merupakan salah satu warisan budaya bangsa diwariskan secara turun-temurun bertujuan untuk menghibur anak-anak. Selain sebagai media penghibur, dongeng juga berperan dalam mendidik moral anak-anak dalam bersosialisasi dengan masyarakat. Dongeng Bali sendiri merupakan bagian dari dongeng nusantara yang berperan penting dalam mendidik moral anak-anak khususnya di daerah Bali. Namun seiring berjalannya waktu serta pengaruh modernisasi di bidang teknologi dan informasi, Dongeng Bali semakin ditinggalkan masyarakat. Hal itu diperparah dengan semakin susahnya menemukan bacaan tentang Dongeng Bali di toko-toko buku. Oleh karena itu perlu adanya tindakan pelestarian terhadap Dongeng Bali demi terjaganya keutuhan budaya bangsa. Salah satu tindakan pelestarian tersebut adalah melalui pemanfaatan ilmu Desain Komunikasi Visual. Dalam kegiatan pelestarian ini diperlukan perencanaan baik secara konseptual maupun visual yang bertujuan untuk memperoleh media komunikasi visual yang efektif dan komunikatif untuk kegiatan pelestarian Dongeng Bali sehingga mendapat tanggapan dari masyarakat khususnya anak-anak. Melalui metode penelitian, data-data yang diperoleh dari hasil observasi, wawancara, kepustakaan dan dokumentasi di Sanggar Kukuruyuk disesuaikan kembali dengan strategi pelestarian. Teori yang digunakan dalam studi ini adalah teori Gaya Belajar oleh DePorter dkk dan teori Kominikasi oleh Liliweri. Kemudian diolah melalui analisis deskriptif kualitatif dan sintesa sehingga diperoleh konsep dasar desain. “Fantasi” merupakan konsep dasar yang relevan digunakan pada proses desain komunikasi visual untuk pelestarain Dongeng Bali. Konsep tersebut sesuai dengan sasaran target umur usia 6 - 12 tahun yang senang dengan sesuatu yang ceria, berwarna serta dunia imajinasi yang luas. Dalam proses desain, telah ditentukan media yang tepat dan sesuai yaitu Dongeng Intetraktif dan Buku Dongeng dengan media pendukungnya yaitu Iklan Tabloid, Spanduk, Poster, Pembatas Buku, Gantungan Pintu, Stiker, Jadwal Mata Pelajaran dan Katalog. Kata Kunci : desain, media komunikasi visual, Dongeng Bali fantasi. ABSTRACT PRESERVATION OF BALINESE TALES THROUGH VISUAL COMMUNICATION MEDIA Tale is one of the nation's cultural heritage passed down from generation to generation aims to entertain the children. Apart from being an entertainer media, tales also play a role in educating children’s moral in socializing with people. Balinese tale itself is part of the archipelago’s tales which has an important role in educating children’s moral, especially in Bali. But, as the time passed, and the influence of modernization in the field of technology and information, the Balinese tale is abandoned by people. It is getting worse that people are difficult to find books about Balinese tales at the bookstores. Therefore, it is necessary to have preservation action to Balinese tales in order to keep the integrity of national culture. One of the preservation actions is conducted through the use of Visual Communication Design. In this preservation activity, we need plans either conceptually or visually that functions to obtain communicative and effective visual communication media for the Balinese tales preservation activity; so that it will be responded by the public, especially the children. Through research method, the data which have been obtained from the observation, interview, literary and documentation at Sanggar Kukuruyuk, that is readjusted with preservation strategy. The theory that was applied in this study was Learning Style Theory which was proposed by DePorter et al and Comunication Theory which was proposed by Liliweri. Then, the data was processed by the analysis of descriptive qualitative and synthesis until the basic concept of design was acquired. “Fantasy” is the relevant basic concept which is used in designing process of visual communication for the Balinese Tales preservation. The concept is suitable with the audience targets of 6-12 years old who are happy with something cheerful, colorful and a wide imaginative world. In designing process, it is already determined the precise and appropriate media, there are Interactive Tales and Balinese Tale book with the supporting media there are Tabloid Ads, Banners, Poster, Border Books, Door Hanger, Sticker, Lesson Schedule and Catalog.
