Abstract
ABSTRAK
Keindahan biota laut menjadi suatu daya tarik tersendiri bagi setiap insan manusia. Dari sekian banyaknya biota laut yang ada, gurita menjadi salah satu yang menarik untuk diteliti lebih jauh. Ketertarikan terhadap gurita berawal dari menonton film bajak laut yang berjudul “Pirates of Caribbean”. Cuplikan film tersebut menceritakan seekor gurita raksasa yang menghancurkan kapal bajak laut Jack Sparrow ditengah laut yang gelap. Hal tersebut menginspirasi pencipta untuk memvisualkannya dalam tugas akhir yang berjudul “Visualisasi Karakter Gurita Dalam Seni Patung”. Gurita adalah makluk invertebrata dari kelas Cephalopoda dengan terumbu karang sebagai habitat utamanya. Gurita memiliki berbagai macam karakter yang fleksibel. Melihat berbagai karakter yang dimiliki oleh gurita, sangat menarik untuk divisualkan menjadi karya seni patung. Gurita tersebut divisualkan dalam bentuk patung figuratif yang artistik.
Dalam proses penciptaan karya ini, digunakan beberapa metode dan teknik tertentu sampai karya selesai. Dari proses penciptaan, menghasilkan 8 buah karya diantaranya : 1. Fleksibel, 2. Berenang, 3. Ibu, 4. Menyamar, 5. Diam-diam, 6. Kekuatanku, 7. Meluncur, 8. Tarian Gurita.

ABSTRACT
The beauty of sea creatures become one interest to the human being. Knowing they are so many, octopus becomes one of them that is very interesting to research on. It all started when creator watched a movie “Pirates of the Caribbean” when one scene showed a humongous octopus destroyed Jack Sparrow’s ship in the middle of dark ocean. This inspired creator to visualise this thesis titled “Octopus Characters
Visualisation In Sculpture”. Octopus is an invertebrate from Cephalopoda class and coral is the main habitat. Octopus has many characters of flexibility. By looking on the various characters of octopus, it is really interesting to be visualized as sculpture. That octopus will be visualized into artistic figurative form.
In visualizing process of this art works, several methods and specific techniques are used till those art works are being done. From the visualizing’s result there are eight pieces of sculptures such as: 1st. flexible, 2nd. Swimming, 3rd. The Mother, 4th. Undercover, 5th. Noiseless, 6th. My Almighty, 7th. Lunching, 8th. Dance of octopus.
