Mengetahui hasil-hasil keramik masa lalu dirasakan perlu dan penting, terutama bagi generasi muda untuk dapat mempelajari dan mengembangkannya serta dapat menghargai hasil budaya sendiri. Sejarah keramik masa lalu sangat sedikit dibahas dan diteliti, karena apresiasi dan minat akan hal itu sangat minim atau langka. Disamping itu literatur keramik kuno Indonesia yang ditulis juga sangat terbatas. Untuk itulah, penulis beranggapan bahwa diperlukan suatu tinjauan keramik kuno yang ada di Indonesia dengan metode eksploratif, yaitu menggali secara mendalam tentang keramik masa lalu dengan mendaras data yang ada dan dianalisis secara kualitatif. Knowing the past ceramic results is necessary and important, especially for the younger generation to learn and develop and appreciate their own cultural results. The history of ceramics of the past is very little discussed and researched, because the appreciation and interest in it is very minimal or rare. Besides, the ancient Indonesian ceramic literature written is also very limited. For this reason, the authors assume that an ancient ceramic review is needed in Indonesia with explorative methods, which is to dig deeply about the past ceramics by recording the existing data and analyzed qualitatively.
