Abstract
Tortor is a dance from South Tapanuli. It is a culture instrument, which is performed, in every customary ceremony. It is performed in order of the speech in the ceremony. The dance is performed with a drum called gondang, which also is a culture instrument in South Tapanuli. The dance is also accompanied by a song. Which called onang-onang, which is very contextual in nature. Nowadays tortor is also performed in instances other than customary ceremonies. Key Words : culture instrument, sociocultural aspect
